More than 350 female high school athletes from the Philadelphia area came together for a day centered on leadership, character, and team culture honor of Women in Sports Day. We led two back-to-back Making Teammates Better workshops focused on leadership, positive initiation, and responsible social media use, providing practical strategies athletes can apply within their teams. We were also honored to hear from U.S. Women’s Soccer Legend Carli Lloyd, whose perspective reinforced the importance of strong, values-driven leadership in sports and beyond.

In a recent feature by Education Week, Dr. April Brooks of Jefferson County Public Schools shares how she’s reenergizing district athletics by expanding access, elevating girls’ sports, and listening to student voices. Serving as the first Black woman to hold the position of Executive Director of Athletics and Activities as JCPS, Dr. Brooks aims to expand opportunities that give kids a stronger sense of belonging and a positive place to invest their energy.
