You don’t have to pronounce Padel right. You just have to log it on Strava! We’ve added five new sport types: Padel, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, and Dance, so athletes can select them directly in the app instead of recording as a generic “Workout.” That means more accurate tracking and clearer weekly time totals. These were some of the most in-demand sports from our active community, with more additions coming in the near future.
About us
Strava is Swedish for “strive,” which epitomizes who we are and what we do. We’re a passionate and committed team, unified by our mission to connect athletes to what motivates them and help them find their personal best. And with billions of activity uploads from all over the world, we have a humbling and audacious vision: to be the record of the world’s athletic activities and the technology that makes every effort count.

Most workouts start and end somewhere personal. That’s why safety and privacy are built into how Strava works — every day, not just today. On #SaferInternetDay we’re highlighting Strava’s features designed to protect your experience, including Privacy Zones, Beacon live location sharing, Night Heatmaps, and extra protections for younger athletes. These tools are designed to help people move with more confidence, because staying active and staying safe shouldn’t be a tradeoff.

How do people really move through cities – and what can that tell us about building better ones? Researchers around the world are using Strava Metro data to see how people actually move through cities. That insight helps show how bike lanes, trails, heat, safety, and access shape everyday movement, and where cities can do better. Today, we’re excited to announce the Year 2 cohort of the Strava Metro Academic Research Program, with research focused on: -Active transportation planning and safety -Climate, heat, and access to green space -Cycling behavior, speed stress, and year-round mobility -Understanding movement patterns in places with limited existing data 👉 Learn more about the Year 2 cohort on the Strava Metro academics page (https://lnkd.in/gJkVTuC9), and check the pinned comment to see what researchers learned in Year 1.

We’re excited to support the Burrito League, a global, community-led movement founded by ultra-runner Jamil Coury and inspired by a longtime tradition of the Chipotle challenge. The Burrito League club on Strava has quickly united runners around a shared love of burritos to compete on global segments, with a focus on repetition, consistency, and community. We’re proud to sponsor the final day with free burritos for athletes who show up and participate on January 31. 🌯 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gRewrs-5
23 days ago (on the evening of January 6th) I made a simple instagram post: Despite there being no official Chipotle Mexican Grill x Strava running challenge this year, I was going to do it anyways. A few hours later, (with a crowdsourced burrito prize from an anonymous follower of last year’s challenge), five of us stood at the corner of Mill Avenue and 9th Street in Tempe, AZ. At the stroke of midnight we started running. Burrito League was born. What happened next was something amazing. Others took the initial spark and literally ran with it. Chapters of Burrito League started popping up across the country in a completely organic but also very rapid pace in what I can only describe as an unstoppable movement. It’s only fitting that the app which makes this sort of repeated segmenting style of running possible, Strava has now come on board to sponsor the final day of Burrito League by offering up a free burrito to anyone who shows up at a local Burrito League segment and participates on January 31st. I plan to write more about this whirlwind, but can’t wait to hear all of the stories that come out of this amazing month of running from around the world. Check out all the details of how Strava is supporting the final day and how to earn your own free burrito. My hope is you’ll see that it’s about so much more: https://lnkd.in/guUzv7ir Thanks to Theo Bayssat Jenn Padilla Maya Holley-Peretz Amy Jackson and the rest of the Strava team for supporting Burrito League and seeing the potential.

Barry’s perspective comes at a defining moment for our growth. He joins the board following an extraordinary year, during which Strava surpassed 180 million users, delivered sustained and accelerating revenue growth, and completed the acquisitions of Runna and The Breakaway. We were honored to welcome Kate Courtney to Strava SF HQ last week 🚵♀️ An Olympian, World Champion, and pro athlete on Strava, Kate joined us to celebrate her recent UCI World Championship win in Cross Country Marathon (XCM) mountain biking – and thanked the team for their support of the She Sends Foundation by gifting the office a signed rainbow jersey. The She Sends Foundation works to connect, support, and empower women and girls through mountain biking and worked with Strava this year to give a series of grants to U23 racers. Huge thanks to our Senior Director of Product and SSF Board Member, Michelle Chang, for making the connection, and to Kate for sharing her story and inspiring our team.
