This is SentinelOne’s Good, Bad, and Ugly cyber news roundup. ✅ GOOD: UK convicts “Bitcoin Queen” in World’s Largest Cryptocurrency Seizure • UK police have secured a conviction tied to the world’s largest cryptocurrency seizure, worth more than £5.5 billion ($7.3 billion). • Dubbed the “Bitcoin Queen,” the defendant ran a multibillion-pound fraudulent Bitcoin scheme that defrauded over 128,000 victims. ⚠️ BAD: Hackers Exploit Milesight Routers to send Phishing SMS to Users • Threat actors are abusing Milesight industrial cellular routers to send SMS phishing messages in a campaign active since at least February 2022. • Attackers exploit the routers’ built-in SMS capabilities to push malicious links directly to end users’ phones, bypassing traditional email filters. 🤢 UGLY: Trio of Flaws in Google Gemini Turn AI Into Attack Vehicle • Researchers discovered three separate flaws in Google’s Gemini AI assistant suite that exposed models to prompt injection, jailbreaks, and sensitive data exfiltration. • The vulnerabilities impact multiple Gemini models and show how attackers can turn AI assistants into attack vectors instead of helpers.
