I’m thrilled to share that SANS Institute is partnering with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to expand the global cyber workforce as part of the AWS Skills to Jobs initiative! This new program will engage up to 10k learners in hands-on cybersecurity and AI security training across 11 countries at no cost, and includes multiple stages of skills development, including cyber ranges, SANS training courses, and GIAC Certifications. It’s been an honor to help design and plan this effort alongside the teams at SANS and AWS (special thanks to Jay Nappy and John Byrne), all united by a shared goal: to build cybersecurity and AI skills across the globe and empower the next generation of cyber defenders. This nomination for Rising Star of the Year included this stunning callout: “Dr. Anmol Agarwal, Senior Security Researcher at Nokia has pioneered the development of secure AI models for next-generation 5G/6G telecommunications infrastructure.” Let that sink in. While we're still figuring out 5G security, she's already solving problems for 6G.  The nomination continues:  "Dr. Agarwal's research has resulted in 15+ publications in top-tier conferences and journals." I'll resist the urge to add all caps everywhere - but REQUIRED READING. Her Doctor of Engineering in Cybersecurity Analytics (2023) is barely two years old. "Her work in adversarial machine learning has identified critical vulnerabilities in AI-powered network systems before they could be exploited in production environments." 6G will be the nervous system for smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and critical infrastructure. If the AI controlling it gets compromised? Catastrophe. Her Nokia position gives her access to real infrastructure, real data, real problems. She's securing the actual networks that will connect billions of devices. She's simultaneously teaching doctoral-level Machine Learning courses at George Washington University (!) where her students are learning to solve tomorrow's problems. Multiplicative impact. Fifteen publications in two years post-doctorate. While speaking at conferences. While working at Nokia.  While teaching. Security Magazine named her Top Cybersecurity Leader 2025. WomenTech Network named her Speaker of the Year 2024. Learn from Anmol: Work on problems that don't exist yet. 6G, quantum networks the problems are coming whether we're ready or not. By the time 6G launches, her security frameworks will be built in, not bolted on. The focus on resilient AI rather than just secure AI is crucial. Secure systems try to keep attackers out. Resilient systems keep working even when attackers get in. In AI, that's the only realistic approach. Rising star? Dr. Agarwal is already in orbit.
