The Harlem African Burial Ground is the resting place for freed and enslaved New Yorkers from the 1600s until the 1880s. Our Senior Project Manager Saradine Pierre highlights the ongoing efforts to honor and preserve this historic site as we move forward with archaeological work and plans for future development.

I believe the future economy is female, diverse and fair. Nowadays it sounds naive, but we aren’t quitters. On International Women’s Day, Women.NYC co-hosted with the Athena Film Festival at Barnard College the NYC’s screening of: Lilly. A feature film based on the activist behind the Fair Pay Act. It’s scary to think that it was passed by the congress just in 2009 and how fragile the battles we thought were once won are. Watch the movie, not only for the 13+ independent film awards it has, but because “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana, The Life of Reason, 1905 Changemakers in action: Alexandra Martinez Sofia Mussa Colleen Bataille Laurel LeFebvre New York City Economic Development Corporation Wocstar | B Corp Certified
