🎨🎭 How can arts, culture, and community engagement help transform brownfields into vibrant destinations? ✅ Join NJIT TAB on July 23, 2026, for Making Places from Forgotten Spaces, a full-day summit exploring the intersection of Creative Placemaking and brownfield redevelopment. Creative Placemaking intentionally integrates arts-based strategies and community engagement into planning and development. When applied to brownfield redevelopment, it can help communities create places that are not only economically and environmentally sustainable, but also culturally vibrant and reflective of local identity. We are honored to welcome keynote speaker Suzanne Ishee, Director of NJIT Hub for Creative Placemaking. An award-winning producer, actor, and playwright, Suzanne co-founded NJIT’s Center for Creative Placemaking to connect artists, planners, developers, conservation professionals, downtown managers, public art practitioners, and community leaders around shared community development goals. She also developed NJIT’s Certificate in Creative Placemaking and co-developed the curriculum for NJIT’s Certificate in Location Management and Film. Drawing from her unique background in both the entertainment industry and community development, Suzanne will share how creative placemaking strategies reimagine vacant and underutilized properties as places that reflect community identity and culture. 📅 July 23, 2026 ⏰ 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM 📍 Newark, NJ Whether you're a municipal leader, nonprofit organization, state or federal agency, brownfield practitioner, developer, or community advocate, this summit offers opportunities to learn, connect, and explore innovative redevelopment approaches. 🔗 More information: https://lnkd.in/gMQNiq54 📝 Register today: https://lnkd.in/emZedJ4U Tag someone who should join the conversation! 👇 #CreativePlacemaking #Brownfields #CommunityDevelopment #Redevelopment #EconomicDevelopment #UrbanPlanning #NJITTAB #SustainableDevelopment #NewarkNJ
