Jim Pillen, NDOT and local leaders broke ground on the Hastings Southeast project, marking a major milestone in Nebraska’s commitment to safe and efficient transportation infrastructure. Construction is slated to begin as early as spring 2026, but utility work is already underway in the area in preparation for construction season. The entire project is estimated to be completed in summer 2028.

  • Nebraska is one of only three states without a hands-free law or primary enforcement law for distracted driving. According to a survey by UNL, around 90% of Nebraskans support allowing law enforcement to stop drivers for texting while driving. These laws have shown to reduce crashes and fatalities in states where they are passed. This legislative session, Gov. Jim Pillen and NDOT are supporting LB 594 to provide hands-free enforcement. Lives depend on it.
