The #NDDEQ recently partnered with NASA DEVELOP to apply satellite technology across our state’s freshwater systems. By analyzing trends in algae levels, water clarity, and turbidity, the team explored tools like LakeSense to provide more timely and accessible insights. The team investigated how such proactive approaches could protect North Dakota’s waters and the people who rely on them. 💧🌾

North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality reposted this
Yesterday marked the end of the NASA DEVELOP National Program summer term. This term, my team partnered with the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Quality to analyze spatiotemporal changes in lake water quality across five lakes in North Dakota. Using Earth observation data from NASA and ESA, we explored how satellite-based remote sensing can inform water resource management and monitoring. On Tuesday, I had the honor of presenting our project at DEVELOP Day at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was an inspiring experience to share our work alongside my team and connect with so many brilliant scientists, mentors, and fellow participants across the DEVELOP network. A heartfelt thank you to my amazing teammates, Mrinalee Reddy, Milena Perez-Gerus, and Logan Rajah; the virtual team at the Boston node, Ana J. Chavez, Chloe Alimurong, Sadie Lockwood, and Ashtyn Gluck; and our fantastic mentor and project lead, Madison Arndt for your support and guidance this term. I am beyond grateful for this incredible experience. Once a DEVELOPer, always a DEVELOPer🚀✨.
