It may be based on game theory, but MITRE’s Stochastic Model for Analyzing Combat Strategies (SMACS) doesn’t play around when it comes to optimizing outcomes for U.S. warfighters. Military planners can use SMACS to generate the most-probable combat scenarios under fluctuating conditions—across land, air, sea, #space, and #cyber. http://spklr.io/6049BJyH1

MITRE remains proud to lead MITRE ATT&CK as a pillar of the global cybersecurity commons, and I’m excited to share what's next with the ATT&CK Evaluations program. We’re working with partners to keep it the gold standard for objective product testing in an ever-evolving threat landscape. ▶︎ ATT&CK Behind the Scenes ◀︎ Cybersecurity is MITRE’s largest practice, with over 1,000 professionals tackling the toughest problems in cyberspace. Within that, 133 experts in defensive operations and threat intelligence power ATT&CK. They’re on the front lines. Tracking adversaries, emulating their tactics, and helping the world detect and stop them. Meet this world-class team and your peers at ATT&CKcon (https://lnkd.in/eg2imdQf). ▶︎ Setting the Gold Standard ◀︎ A few years ago MITRE identified several gaps in product testing: uneven methodologies, inconsistent results, and insufficient value to consumers of what they were buying. We worked with industry to develop a new standard, aligning testing to the widely adopted MITRE ATT&CK framework and to the behaviors of specific, topical adversaries. We brought consistency, transparency, and rigor to the testing market, giving consumers apples-to-apples scorecards. But beyond that, the ethos of the program was collaboration and making security better for everyone. When MITRE tests products against the behaviors of the most dangerous adversaries, informed by our expansive view of the changing threat landscape, it drives better defensive products across the entire industry. ▶︎ Looking Toward Enterprise 2026 ◀︎ We’ll release Enterprise 2025 results in December - and our eyes are already on what’s next. Adversaries are growing more sophisticated and destructive, from nation-state actors “living off the land” to organized crime groups weaponizing ransomware. For Enterprise 2026, three principles guide us: Collaboration & Community Engagement – expanding dialogue with vendors and practitioners. Transparency, Consistency & Rigor – maintaining the benchmark defenders trust. Continuous Evolution – adapting to emerging threats and technologies. We’re rebooting our vendor forum and inviting community feedback to shape objectives, metrics, and test design - just as we did in the very first round.
