A longtime software developer and pioneer in "Cyber Civil Defense," Craig’s consistent support has been a significant factor in helping ISRG advance our work for better security and privacy. We were excited to see that sudo-rs, a memory safe version of sudo whose development we supported, was adopted by default in Ubuntu 25.10. Over the past couple of years, we’ve been investing time in making Rustls errors more useful, precise, and user-friendly. Clear error messages save time for both users and maintainers. They reduce frustration, speed up debugging, and mean fewer support requests — which lets the maintainers focus on improving Rustls itself. Rustls now distinguishes over 200 machine-readable error variants across 8 categories. This structure helps downstream libraries handle errors more intelligently, while keeping API stability intact.
