I recently took another look at Syrnia, the little browser MMO I made over 𝟮𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼. To my surprise, it’s still alive — with hundreds of players logging in daily, keeping the world going. What amazed me even more were the stories I rediscovered: • At least four couples met in Syrnia, got 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 (some moved countries) and now have kids. • The community even has a 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 page for almost 50 players who sadly passed away over all these years. • And then there’s Slave Hack, another old project of mine — a game about hacking, which once went viral on Digg and inspired one player a bit too much, leading to a real-world 𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁. (Don’t worry — he later turned his skills to good use in IT security.) It’s both surreal and humbling that something I built as a teenager could become part of people’s lives in such unexpected ways. Insane to think the 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 might already be 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝘁 XD. Moments like these remind me why I’ve always been drawn to multiplayer: not just about playing, but about the real connections behind the screen. 👉 Curious about the full journey of M2H, from these quirky beginnings to today?
