  • Join us in beautiful Dublin, Ireland at 2026 EuroLLVM for two keynotes you won't want to miss! Owen Anderson will present the Tuesday keynote titled "Capabilities Great and Small: CHERI, CHERIoT, and LLVM." Details: Support for the CHERI capability architecture and its embedded derivative, CHERIoT, is being upstreamed to LLVM. This talk explores what that means for LLVM developers, which parts of the toolchain are affected, and how these changes may interact with existing frontend, optimizer, backend, and linker work. We'll take a look at work to date, the status of upstreaming, and open problems where community involvement could help. Reid Kleckner will present the Wednesday keynote The Wednesday "The Testing Funnel: Validating LLVM at Scale". Details: LLVM is foundational software, so stakes for making changes to it are very high, and most downstream vendors of LLVM have elaborate testing pipelines to validate all of the properties they care about. However, because these private pipelines are often slow and disconnected from the community, detecting defects is expensive and leads to labor-intensive negotiations over misaligned technical requirements. To improve the experience for both contributors and downstreams, this talk shares lessons from 15 years of LLVM continuous integration experience to advocate for shared upstream CI infrastructure that "shifts left" on testing, to create a better, more harmonious experience for contributors and consumers alike. Early bird pricing for the 2026 EuroLLVM Developers’ Meeting ends tomorrow, March 13. Book here: https://lnkd.in/gT8wbWgy

  • The first Women in Compilers and Tools (WiCT) meetup of 2026 is coming up on Saturday, March 14! 🌏 Time: 6:00 PM – 7:15 PM IST (India) 12:30 PM – 1:45 PM GMT 8:30 AM – 9:45 AM EDT 5:30 AM – 6:45 AM PDT (Pacific) Please Note: This meetup is designed to be Asia Time Zone–friendly. This meetup will be recorded. The event is open to participants of all genders. We're excited to welcome Prof. Jyothi Vedurada from IIT Hyderabad. Title: Compiler Optimizations for CPU-GPU Heterogeneous Systems Abstract: Modern high-performance applications increasingly rely on CPU-GPU heterogeneous systems, yet their performance is often limited by poorly placed global synchronization barriers, synchronous memory transfers, and default-stream CUDA semantics that prevent overlap between computation and communication. This talk presents compiler-driven techniques to systematically remove these bottlenecks. I will first introduce hetero-sync motion, which safely relocates barrier instructions to enable greater CPU-GPU concurrency, and sync2async, which automatically transforms synchronous data transfers and kernel launches on the default stream into non-default-stream asynchronous calls with correct stream allocation and synchronization. Both techniques rely on precise, context-sensitive, flow-sensitive inter-procedural data-flow analyses implemented in LLVM/Clang, and deliver significant speedups on modern GPUs. I will briefly touch upon our ongoing work on optimizing Unified Memory programs using static analysis to reduce unnecessary on-demand page migrations. Together, these efforts show how compiler analysis can unlock concurrency and efficiency in heterogeneous systems without increasing programmer burden. About the Speaker: Prof. Vedurada's research interests are compilers, program analysis, and high-performance computing. Prior to IIT Hyderabad, she was a post-doctoral researcher at Microsoft Research Lab, Bangalore. She received her PhD (+M.Tech) from IIT Madras, supported by the TCS PhD fellowship. Her recognitions include the Young Woman Researcher in Compilers and Software Systems VIF Award (2025), Google Research exploreCSR Award (2021), Distinguished Paper Award at OOPSLA 2021, and the Institute Research Award for her PhD thesis.
