QGIS 4.0 is here. We're happy. But a release like this doesn't come from nowhere. It comes from hundreds of people who chose to give their time, and from organisations who chose to fund the work. Both matter equally. At OPENGIS.ch we put in a lot of volunteer hours: serving on the PSC, reviewing PRs, making sure useful things we build for QField[Cloud] land in #QGIS core, advocating for adoption. And we're large sustaining members since many years. Not because we have to be, but because we think that's just how it should work. If a project powers your business, it deserves your support. We even have a dedicated sustainability initiative that donates hundreds of hours a year to the project But more on that Thursday. QGIS is free. The people building it aren't. If it's part of your stack, consider giving something back. → https://lnkd.in/gkFbY2uF #QGIS #OpenSource #GIS #OPENGISch #funding
What a March for QGIS. The headline: QGIS 4.0 Norrköping is out. Years of work by hundreds of volunteers and organisations, a full migration to Qt6, a reworked codebase, and 100+ new features on top. This is the platform we will build on for the next decade. But the release was only part of the story: 🏛️ We welcomed COSS as a flagship sustaining member 📣 We launched Grants #11, opening the 2026 call for proposals ✅ We published the reports from the 2025 grant winners 📍 We opened the Call for Papers for the QGIS User Conference 2026 (Laax, October 5-6) And, most importantly, we kicked off the sustaining member campaign to make sure the momentum behind 4.0 doesn't stall. Great software needs sustained funding. If #QGIS is part of your work or your organisation's stack, this is the moment to give back. Every sustaining membership directly funds development, infrastructure, and the people who keep this project moving. Read moer at https://lnkd.in/gkFbY2uF #QGIS #OpenSource #GIS #funding

@OPENGIS.ch has been open source by choice since day one. For us, open source is a key enabler of digital sovereignty: without it, sovereignty stays theoretical. That's why the OSS Directory (ossdirectory.com) matters to us. Switzerland's largest open source software directory, run by @CH-Open since 2004, it's where organisations find professional open source providers, browse real success stories, and signal that they're part of this ecosystem. Long-time CH Open sponsors and listed there ourselves, we're also one of the first private companies to join Network SDS (Sovereign Digital Switzerland) because building a sovereign digital future isn't just a government problem. Open source is not a cheaper way to use software someone else built. It's a choice about who controls your infrastructure, your data, and your future. With QGIS, QField, and QField Cloud, you own and control your solutions. Curious what this looks like in practice? Here's our profile: https://buff.ly/hfcOfeu #OpenSource #DigitalSovereignty #Switzerland #OPENGISch #CHOpen #NetzwerkSDS
