Is the state of the grant funding system making you want to cry? Do you dream about setting up your own funder to fund the things not-for-profit orgs actually need? Me too. If you want to indulge in a little rage giving, or come and play at being funders with me, The Boring Fund is accepting donations. (You don't have to be rolling in it to donate!) We only fund the boring but essential things like insurance, web hosting, admin time: the stuff that’s always so hard to get money for. It’s partly a funding experiment, partly making a point about the state of the stupid funding system. Small, grassroots organisations shouldn’t have to jump through endless hoops to get support. The Boring Fund is currently little grants of £200 but it's to small organisations doing incredible things and the application will take about 5 mins of their time so we're not taking the piss. It was great to take the Open Finance Consortium team through a two day Hackathon at the tail end of our annual work retreat 💙 This gave the team an opportunity to pitch pet projects and ideas that don’t easily fit into the Open Collective platform's regular development schedule. We had some innovative projects: 🚀 Expense speed run - How fast can you process 25 expenses 🔎 Global search functionality - Super boosting the search experience 💰 Public ledger experience - View all transactions in real time 🐝 Customer Support integration - providing necessary user information and the most impactful 😏 ⚙️ Transition Operations (If you haven't heard we have transitioned to a non-profit) - (https://shorturl.at/BpxdS) These features will be rolled out over the next few weeks 👏🏼 Thanks Benjamin Nickolls for being the best cohost 🎁 It's always lovely to spend time in person with the team
We are excited to announce some changes at Open Collective and the birth of a new non-profit organization! 👏🏼 The current Open Collective Platform is moving and being established under our new non-profit, Open Finance Consortium Inc. 501(c)(6) (“OFiCo”). The product will stay true to its current spirit, the fundamentals will stay the same. 🐝 The entire team building the Open Collective Platform is moving to our new non-profit and is continuing its work without disruption. Our goal is to make the change initially invisible to users. 🫶🏼
