Britain, it’s time for a financial reality check. We've partnered with YouGov and the lang cat to create the Iress Financial Readiness Index - a clear, data-led picture of how people across the UK are really feeling about their finances. The Index is a single score that combines how people feel about their finances vs what they actually do - covering saving, home ownership, protection and retirement planning - to show whether they are financially vulnerable, uncertain, stable, confident or empowered. Here's what it's telling us: 📉 The UK scores 44.2/100 - putting it in the 'financially uncertain' category 🔍 46% of people feel financially secure... but only 11% actually meet the basic benchmarks of true financial security ⚠️ 38+ million Brits may be overestimating their financial security 🛡️ 22% misjudge how well they're protected against the unexpected The findings reflect a nation juggling today’s pressures while trying to plan for tomorrow. Our aim with this Index is to spark better conversations, better awareness and better outcomes for people's financial futures.
