Today, 12 January 2026, the first-ever Internet Domain Names Forum was held in Istanbul, Türkiye, coordinated by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (Bilgi Teknolojileri ve İletişim Kurumu - BTK - ICT), TOBBUYUM Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center, Istanbul Arbitration Centre / ISTAC, Bilgi Teknolojileri ve İnternet Güvenliği Derneği, and #ICANN. We were delighted to be part of this inaugural event, which brought together key stakeholders from the Turkish DNS ecosystem for a dynamic exchange of ideas, initiatives, and opportunities shaping the future of the DNS landscape.

📢 #ICANN has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to identify a qualified provider to conduct Safeguard Assessments as part of the New gTLD Program: 2026 Round, with expertise in consumer protection, Internet security, abuse prevention, and regulatory compliance. Safeguard Assessments will help determine if an applied-for gTLD string will require a certain set of safeguard public interest commitments (PICs), as part of the contractual obligations by its registry operator.
