One World, One Internet

About us

To reach another person on the Internet you have to type an address into your computer - a name or a number. That address has to be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate these unique identifiers across the world. Without that coordination we wouldn't have one global Internet. ICANN was formed in 1998. It is a nonprofit public-benefit corporation with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. It helps promote competition and develop policy on the Internet’s unique identifiers. ICANN doesn’t control content on the Internet. It cannot stop spam and it doesn’t deal with access to the Internet. But through its coordination role of the Internet’s naming system, it does have an important impact on the expansion and evolution of the Internet.

🔔 Multilingual Internet Boosts Countries' Economic Activity 💬 "More than 120 countries and tech giants have already recognized the importance of a multilingual internet — not only from an educational and cultural standpoint, but also from an economic development perspective. Apple, Google, Microsoft, and other tech giants are doing everything they can to advance this process." 💬 "Armenia has also taken steps and is now ready to join international solutions." 📌 Igor Mkrtumyan, Board Chair of “Internet Society” NGO 🌐 On March 31, the regional conference "Building a Truly Multilingual Internet" was held at the European University of Armenia, as part of UADay2026. According to recent research, a multilingual internet boosts countries' economic activity, as people engage more actively online when content is available in their native language. Senior representatives from ICANN , ITU , and UNESCO , as well as members of the technical community and students, participated in the conference. 🤝 Universal Acceptance Day events have been held worldwide since 2023, with the support of ICANN and local partners. In 2026, the regional Universal Acceptance Day conferences in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia were organized with the support of the Regional Coordination Group for Universal Acceptance in the CIS and Eastern Europe. #UADAY2026 #Armenia #Internet4All #ICANN #ISOCArmenia #dotհայdomain #armeniandomain

📢 #ICANN has extended the deadline to respond to its Request for Proposal for a single, qualified provider to conduct the Geographic Names Panel review and the Reserved Names Panel review for the New gTLD Program: 2026 Round. 📢 The second application submission period for the #ICANN New gTLD Program: 2026 Round Registry Service Provider (RSP) Evaluation Program opens 30 April 2026 and closes 12 August 2026.
