🌍 What can the global telecom community learn from Australia’s fight against scam calls and SMS? From the perspective of the i3Forum Technology Workgroup, Australia stands out as an exemplary market for coordinated anti-scam action. The work of the National Anti-Scam Centre shows that when regulators, telcos, banks, and digital platforms align around: ✔️ Large-scale network-level blocking ✔️ Trusted data & intelligence sharing ✔️ Controls like SMS Sender ID registries ✔️ Clear, enforceable accountability …the impact can be real and measurable-including a significant reduction in reported scam losses. While scams are a global, cross-border problem, Australia offers a practical reference model for how policy, technology, and operations can work together to reduce harm.
