Scot More experienced homelessness at a young age after coming out as gay to his mother, who then forced him to leave home. He eventually moved to Texas, where his life took a series of sharp turns — some difficult, others defining. He received an HIV diagnosis, found meaningful connections within Austin’s gay community, and later lost his job of eight years — a dismissal he believes was tied to his sexuality. After facing homelessness for the second time, More found a job as an intern for the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County — a role that turned into a lifelong mission. For the last 21 years, he has headed Houston’s homeless court, working to eliminate barriers to restabilization and help the city’s homeless population rebuild their lives. More's story marks the sixth and final installment in Houston Landing’s series that explored the lives of our neighbors, asking them to share in their own words: Who are HOU? 🗣️: Scot More 📹: Lexi Parra 🎥: Sophia Pirani #whoarehou #whoarehouston
