Registration is now open for SummerWorks 2026. SummerWorks is one of the most important investments we make in Louisville’s future—connecting residents ages 16–21 with real-world experience, valuable skills, and pathways to long-term success. I’m especially excited about what’s new in 2026: 🆕 SummerWorks will help support wages for youth in select private-sector roles aligned with long-term career pathways 🆕 We’re funding English language training for youth from the JCPS Newcomer Academy, responding directly to employer needs 🆕 We’re continuing innovative work-and-learn experiences with partners like Louisville Science Pathways at University of Louisville, the JB Speed School of Engineering, TECC BOSS, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, and others. AHAM was proud to take part in the launch of the first-ever in-house water filter manufacturing operation by GE Appliances, a Haier company at Appliance Park in Louisville, Ky. Wednesday. For the past several years, AHAM has led Filter it Out, a campaign to raise consumer awareness of the health and safety risks of counterfeit refrigerator water filters through communications, advocacy, research and collaboration with manufacturers. This new manufacturing operation will boost GE Appliances’ ability to safeguard consumers against counterfeits. GE Appliances CEO Kevin Nolan, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, U.S. Rep Morgan McGarvey, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg and AHAM Vice President of Communications and Marketing Jill Notini all spoke at the event. “Counterfeit filters, made from substandard plastics and unsafe materials, are often nearly impossible for the average shopper to distinguish from the genuine product,” Notini said in her remarks. “This effort to keep counterfeits out of the market is a daunting task, but through programs such as Filter it Out and partnerships with the Water Quality Association, retailers, and companies willing to invest in quality at the source, we can make a meaningful impact.” Filter It Out remains one of the most important pieces of work AHAM does because it directly impacts the lives of consumers in homes, kitchens, and communities across the U.S. Learn more at www.filteritout.org #manufacturing #safety
