American Airlines announced today that their future Airbus A321neo aircraft will continue to be powered by CFM International (CFM) LEAP-1A engines, adding 120 A321neo and 35 A321XLR to the airline’s current fleet of 84 A321neo and 5 A321XLR. “We are proud to be under wing powering American’s modernized fleet and appreciate their continued trust,” said Larry Culp, chairman and chief executive officer at GE Aerospace. “We are committed to delivering best-in-class LEAP engines to support the growth of American’s network as they serve more destinations for their customers.” The airline also has options to purchase 116 additional A320neo family aircraft from Airbus which, if exercised, will also be outfitted with #CFMLEAP engines. ✈️ Meet Abdallah Sbayi, an Early Career Trainee at GE Aerospace in Doha. Sbayi holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from İstanbul Bilgi University. His interest in all things that move started with his senior thesis on Formula One Student race car program. He also completed an internship with a turbomachinery team in the oil and gas sector, alongside training in programming and applied data science tools. At #GEAerospace, Sbayi is part of the Middle East Technology Center, where he contributes to automation initiatives such as Derate and Wash Analysis and supports the #GEnxEngine Analytics-Based Maintenance team – building hands-on experience at the intersection of engineering and digital solutions. He enjoys the culture of continuous improvement that FLIGHT DECK, our lean operating system, provides.
