    Florida International University had 13 alumni supporting the launch and operations of Artemis II, whose four astronauts became the humans who traveled the farthest from Earth yesterday. Receiving their Green School Medallion, on behalf of all my Santander colleagues across the Group, was an honor, especially because of the medallion’s symbol, the butterfly. We share the belief that transformation is what powers our institutions; a conviction that letting go of what works today to build what will work tomorrow is what drives long-term success. For nearly 170 years, Santander has reinvented itself many times, reaching close to 180 million customers, whom we serve every day. FIU, in only 54 years, has achieved many milestones that most institutions never attain. All of us from Santander, including Santander US Chair Tim Ryan, our US CEO Christiana Riley, and many colleagues, are grateful for this important recognition to Jeanette M. Nuñez, President of the University, Shlomi Dinar, Dean of the School, and Ambassador Steven J. Green. We very much enjoyed meeting you all: the students and many major donors, including Mavi and Benjamin León.

    At today’s Annual General Meeting we confirmed Santander’s 2026 targets, with revenues growing and lower costs in absolute terms, leading to higher profit year-on-year. We also informed our shareholders that we remain confident in our medium-term plan, including exceeding €20 billion in profit and achieving a RoTE above 20% by 2028. During the meeting, shareholders approved the capital increase related to the acquisition of Webster –which will strengthen our position in the US and allow us to achieve a RoTE of 18% by 2028– as well as a final cash dividend for 2025, bringing the total cash dividend to 24 euro cents per share, an increase of more than 14% year-on-year. We intend to more than double the cash dividend per share in 2028 compared to 2025, increasing the share of profit allocated to cash dividends to 35% from 2027 results – subject to future corporate and regulatory decisions and approvals. While the geopolitical landscape is uncertain, our scale and diversification across different countries and businesses continue to provide resilience by reducing volatility, making our results more stable and predictable through economic cycles. Last year we said Santander was a unique investment opportunity. Today, we continue to stand by that view. Thank you to our shareholders, customers, and teams for your continued trust and support.     Today, at our Annual General Meeting, our Executive Chair, Ana Botín, highlighted Santander’s strong start to the year, with the bank on track to increase profit in 2026 year-on-year. Ana Botín confirmed that Santander has maintained the positive momentum of recent years, with continued growth in customers and revenues, improved efficiency, and stable credit quality in the first quarter. Shareholders approved a capital increase to support the acquisition of Webster Financial Corporation and a final cash dividend of 12.5 euro cents per share (bringing total cash dividends from 2025 results to €0.24 per share, an increase of over 14% year-on-year). Total shareholder remuneration against 2025 results will reach approximately €7 billion, in line with the group’s 50% payout policy. Must read 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e5V3ydTr
