How is AI changing the role of lawyers? Check out the video from our recent livestream on AI Lawyering in Practice: How Global Firms Are Integrating AI. We were joined by two leading voices from Linklaters, one of the world’s premier global law firms: Sarah Barnard, Firmwide Director of AI Delivery, and Toby Irenshtain, AI Lawyer for the Americas. Together, they offered an inside look at what “AI lawyering” actually means in practice, from firmwide strategy and governance to building and piloting tools directly with legal teams. https://lnkd.in/eusuFB-k #ResponsibleAI

With the theme of "From Principles to Power: Embedding Accountability in the AI Era," we will be curating individuals across civil society, government, industry, academia, and philanthropy who are working to ensure technology advances in ways that align with the public interest. I'm deeply thankful for the incredible individuals who have said Yes to participating on our stage, along with the hundreds of individuals who have been previous speakers, joined our livestreams, mentored the next generation, participated in our working groups, volunteered, or provided guidance and support. Back in 2018, I was able to launch All Tech Is Human's very first summit by posting a simple Google Form here on LinkedIn for interest. Turning an idea into action, All Tech Is Human was able to help lead, coalesce, and professionalize the Responsible Tech movement. We're going big on our upcoming Responsible Tech Summit, which is why we are already announcing this incredible batch of speakers and why we booked The New York Times Center for our global gathering that will livestream to thousands of people. If you have ideas for speakers, sponsors, or partners, reach out to me. We're building something special here, and I am grateful for all of the support that has brought us to this current moment. It's time to turn this up to 11. #ResponsibleTech #AllTechIsHuman

🎉We are thrilled to announce the confirmed speakers for our Responsible Tech Summit! 🎉 We will be holding the Responsible Tech Summit on October 29th at The New York Times Center in Manhattan under the theme of From Principles to Power: Embedding Accountability in the AI Era. Confirmed speakers include: 🎙Dr. Rumman Chowdhury (CEO, Humane Intelligence PBC) 🎙Cathy O’Neil (Founder, Author, Mathematician & Data Scientist, O'Neil Risk Consulting & Algorithmic Auditing) 🎙Eli Pariser (Co-Director of New_ Public) 🎙Ayah Bdeir (CEO, Current AI) 🎙Sinead Bovell (Founder, WAYE) 🎙Camille François (President, ROOST.tools) 🎙Renée Cummings (Professor of Practice in Data Science, University of Virginia) 🎙Joshua Elder (Senior Vice President and Head of Grantmaking, Siegel Family Endowment) 🎙Anya Schiffrin (Director - Media Program, Columbia University (SIPA) 🎙Julie Cordua (CEO, Thorn) We will be bringing together leaders from across the Responsible Tech ecosystem for a day of dialogue, collaboration, and action. The summit will serve as the premiere gathering for the global Responsible Tech movement, connecting voices from civil society, government, industry, academia, and philanthropy who are working to ensure technology advances in ways that align with the public interest. For years, the Responsible Tech field has been guided by ethical frameworks, voluntary commitments, and emerging standards. Today, the challenge is clear: how do we translate those ideas into systems of governance, oversight, and design that ensure innovation does not come at the expense of safety, rights, or trust? The Responsible Tech Summit is designed as a highly curated convening for 375 leaders that helps align and shape the direction of the movement. Participants will include global governance leaders, AI researchers, industry practitioners, policy experts, civil society advocates, and philanthropic leaders who are building the infrastructure of accountability for the digital age. Through keynotes, panels, and conversations, attendees will explore topics such as accountability by design, platform oversight, youth online safety, and the evolving global regulatory landscape. This will be the first Responsible Tech Summit that will be livestreamed. Ultimately, the Responsible Tech Summit is about more than conversation. It is about building alliances, strengthening the ecosystem, and translating shared values into meaningful change. By bringing together stakeholders across sectors, All Tech Is Human aims to catalyze the next phase of the Responsible Tech movement and help chart a path toward a technology future that better serves the public interest. Do you know of individuals and orgs that should be involved?! Let us know! #AllTechIsHuman #ResponsibleTech #ResponsibleAI https://lnkd.in/eWy3yQtK

Let's talk about Age Assurance! Join us for our livestream on Thursday, March 19th at 1pm ET for Beyond Parental Controls: Rethinking Age Assurance & Digital Agency for Youth. We will be welcoming expert Anneke Buffone, PhD, a behavioral and computational social scientist and the founder of CLARA (Clear AI Risk Assurance). Before founding CLARA, Anneke spent nearly seven years at Meta, where her final two years focused on cross-platform age assurance research across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Drawing on this experience, Anneke brings rare insight into how technical systems and human behavior interact to shape youth experiences online. Now, through CLARA, she is pioneering independent, ethically funded safety research (combining surveys, interviews, red team testing, and real-world data) to develop actionable safety taxonomies, platform ranking systems, and interventions that help kids build digital agency and literacy. In this powerful talk, Alexis C. (our recent Senior Fellow for Information Integrity) pulls back the curtain on what she calls the “Invisible War” shaping our digital age. This is where power over democracy is increasingly negotiated; not at the ballot box, but in closed-door conversations between governments and technology companies. Drawing on her experience advising major platforms, policymakers, and global institutions, Alexis explores the high-stakes tensions surrounding algorithms, surveillance, AI, and the meaning of “safety” in politically sensitive environments. Similar to our emphasis on actively shaping our tech future here at ATIH, Alexis argues that democracy must be actively designed for, not assumed. By building thoughtful guardrails that align product decisions with public values, strengthening institutional resilience, and fostering collaboration between industry, government, and civil society, we can ensure that technology serves people and is aligned with democratic principles. Check it out! Alexis worked with the All Tech Is Human team last year on our project in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s Action Coalition on Information Integrity in Elections. You can find a report on this in the comments. #ResponsibleTech #ResponsibleAI #AllTechIsHuman https://lnkd.in/eyRYFvjy

In my AI Governance work, I think a lot about the issue of inter-party trust. How can I trust that someone else's AI system works? Even if it's been evaluated in some way, how do I know that evaluation is rigorous, fair, and meaningful? To help answer that question, Mastercard is co-hosting an in-person workshop this month with All Tech Is Human. The goal is to have a generative discussion about the HOW and the WHAT of creating trust in AI - WHAT information do we need to have to trust AI systems, and HOW do we communicate that information? We're accepting applications for folks to join this workshop and contribute to the creation of a white paper on inter-party trust in AI systems.
