How does Zynga support millions of daily players across titles like Words with Friends and Zynga Poker? By building a networking data plane that scales without bottlenecks. As Zynga's Kubernetes environment grew, the team needed to move beyond traditional networking limitations to support unpredictable traffic spikes and ultra-low latency requirements. By migrating to Cilium, they implemented an ""all-in-one"" solution for networking, observability, and security. Key outcomes of the migration include: * Eliminated performance overhead to support real-time gaming. * Gained deep, identity-aware observability into service communication. * Simplified the stack by consolidating networking and security. Making cloud native ubiquitous
About us
Cloud native computing uses an open source software stack to deploy applications as microservices, packaging each part into its own container, and dynamically orchestrating those containers to optimize resource utilization. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) hosts critical components of those software stacks including Kubernetes and Prometheus; brings together the industry’s top developers, end users, and vendors; and serves as a neutral home for collaboration. CNCF is part of The Linux Foundation.

Learn from Abby Bangser what it means when platforms stop being delivery mechanisms and start becoming ecosystems. #KubeCon #CloudNativeCon #PlatformEngineering
New episode of Code RED Podcast is out. 🎙️ I sat down with Abby Bangser, founding principal engineer at Syntasso and co-chair of #KubeCon+#CloudNativeCon, to talk about the keynote she just gave at KubeCon+CloudNativeCon in Amsterdam on Platform as a Product, and what it means when platforms stop being delivery mechanisms and start becoming ecosystems. Lots to unpack from this one, so I'll be sharing a few clips over the coming weeks. First up: golden paths vs golden bricks. Abby made the point that an all-or-nothing golden path is more likely to fail than succeed. People are looking for the easiest way to do their jobs, and there's never going to be one way for everyone. If you build a single path and tell everyone to follow it, you're betting you got it right for every team. You probably didn't. The alternative is composability. Golden bricks. Codify the things that matter to your organization as small, self-contained pieces. What does a database with encryption and backups look like? Just the database. Then when a team needs a test environment, they compose the bricks they need. Another team grabs a different combination. Start with the most permissive baseline your company will allow, then layer more opinionated bricks on top that all drive through that baseline. You're going to get things wrong at first... but with clear contracts and versioning, you can evolve without starting over. Separate services where needed. Combine them where needed. That composability is what makes the difference between a golden path that crumbles and one that actually grows with your platform. Full episode linked in comments. Give it a listen and let me know how your team thinks about this. 👇

"Kubernetes is not just adapting to support AI. It is being rebuilt to become the control plane where enterprise AI is deployed, operated, governed, and scaled." That line from Forrester captures exactly what KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2026 in Amsterdam felt like — a turning point. 13,500 community members showed up, and the conversations weren't about whether Kubernetes could support AI. They were about how to build the infrastructure that makes enterprise AI production-ready. Worth a read for anyone thinking about where cloud native is headed. → https://hubs.la/Q049n7pH0 #OpenSource #Kubernetes #AIInference #KubeConCloudNativeCon #CloudNative #PlatformEngineering

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon serves as a unique catalyst where technical journeys align to solve real-world challenges. Open source is at its most impactful when it moves beyond the cluster to address human-centric needs. Two inspiring stories currently highlight this power of community-driven innovation. The first explores a broad mobility initiative leveraging cloud native technology for global good. The second, "Eva's Story" by Faseela K offers a moving reflection on why accessibility and inclusive design remain vital to the ecosystem. The potential for these paths to converge is significant. With discussions underway regarding a new sub-group focused on these mobility challenges, the community hopes to see voices like these leading the way. Building a more accessible world requires this level of collaboration. 🌍 Read the full stories here: 📍 James Spurin & Remco Stolwijk's mobility Initiative: https://lnkd.in/gZ6hxtGy 📍 Eva Gustavsson's Story: https://lnkd.in/gKHGFRJg #CNCF #CloudNative #KubeCon #OpenSource #TechForGood #Mobility

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2026 made one thing very clear: Kubernetes is becoming the home for AI inference. 82% of organizations are already running AI workloads on Kubernetes, but only 7% are deploying AI daily. Closing that gap was the heartbeat of the entire event. From community-driven projects like llm-d to 13,500 strong showing up in Amsterdam, the cloud native ecosystem is doing what it does best—solving hard problems together. The infrastructure is coming together. The momentum is real.
