This is when real-time data and connected vehicle intelligence become essential pillars of road safety: With our Swedish subsidiary NIRA Dynamics AB, we analyze tens of millions of data points from the connected fleet of the Volkswagen Group in real time every day to provide drivers with direct hazard warnings in their cockpit. This allows them to adjust their speed in time - before it becomes dangerous. Additionally, the data delivers a precise picture of road conditions during Germany's icy winter of 2026.     With the Volkswagen ID.UNYX 07, production has begun on the first Volkswagen Group model featuring the China Electronic Architecture (CEA), the Group’s first centralized electronic architecture. The architecture was developed in just 18 months through a joint effort by Volkswagen Group China Technology Company (VCTC), #CARIAD China, and XPENG at the development center in Hefei. But why do we develop an architecture in China, for China? One simple answer: China differs fundamentally from Europe in terms of user behavior and regulations. ▶️ The average buyer of an electric vehicle in China is 35 years old — often a digital native who places great value on in-car experience, smart cockpits, #AI functions, voice control, driver assistance systems, and high-tech features across the board. ▶️ Dense traffic in Chinese megacities imposes different demands on vehicles and their (assistance) systems than, for example, German highways, where vehicles typically travel at higher speed. ▶️ The regulations and standards in Europe and China differ fundamentally in many areas, including emissions, #safety, and data protection. Software compliance standards differ significantly between the Chinese GB/T standards and the European UNECE/EU regulations. And the In China, for China strategy is paying off: In 2026, the #VWGroup will enter the competition in the local market for electrified New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) stronger than ever, bringing more than 20 fully electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extended models to the Chinese market.     More convenient, faster, contactless: AUDI AG integrates new apps for parking, #charging, and fueling. ▶️ The “ryd” app offers contactless fueling, charging, and washing with a convenient payment process in a single app. The service covers a total of more than 10,000 fuel stations and more than a million charging points in Europe. ▶️ The app “EasyPark” offers Audi customers a seamless and comfortable experience when using more than 60,000 parking locations in around 1,300 European cities – from public parking spots to private parking lots and parking garages. The apps are integrated directly into the MMI via the #Audi Application Store, which was developed in collaboration with #CARIAD. Audi is the first automaker to integrate these third-party apps directly into the MMI infotainment system. The app “ryd” is already available across all Audi models with the Audi Application Store, while “EasyPark” will be rolled out gradually by the end of the first quarter of 2026. In addition to the infotainment system, the “Audi Application Store and Smartphone Interface” equipment, a myAudi account, and an active data connection are required to use the store. __ #WeAreCARIAD #VorsprungDurchTechnik

    Say goodbye to the "nod": Every driver knows that typical, slight "nod" of the passengers' heads just before the car comes to a standstill at a traffic light. #CARIAD teams have developed a solution to create the perfect halt - by defying the laws of physics. Instead of mechanically passing the driver's brake request 1:1, the software reinterprets the command. Software takes over the fine dosing from the driver by continuously and dynamically reducing the braking force just before the halt. In this process, the mechanical brake is almost entirely replaced by the electric generator (recuperation). Lennart W., Function and Concept Engineer says: "Our model uses the known mass of the vehicle and the desired velocity profile. Based on this, the algorithm calculates the exact braking force required in real-time." In conventional hydraulic braking systems, the foot pressure applied by the driver – roughly about 0.1 to 0.4 g-force - is transmitted directly and constantly to the braking system. The system continues to apply force regardless of whether the car is traveling at 50 km/h or is about to stop. The result: Just before standstill, the braking force is actually too high relative to the remaining speed. The kinetic energy drops abruptly to zero, the suspension compresses, and the occupants nod forward. __ #WeAreCARIAD #Software #Code

    Volkswagen Group China starts production of its first locally developed zonal electronic architecture - with the fastest timeline which Volkswagen Group has ever achieved for an all-new electronic architecture. The China Electronic Architecture (CEA), developed by Volkswagen Group China Technology Company (VCTC), #CARIAD China and XPENG, paves the way for the successful roll-out of the Volkswagen ID. UNYX 07. The #tech trailblazer marks Volkswagen Group’s entry into full cycle Software-Defined Vehicle production in China for China. Compared with previous vehicle generations, the CEA reduces the number of electronic control units by around 30%, significantly streamlining system complexity. This provides a stable foundation for advanced #AI cockpit functions, China-specific driver assistance systems and full-vehicle over-the-air updates. Enabled by the new development process, overall vehicle development cycles are shortened by up to 30%. Through localized development and early supplier integration during the concept phase, development costs for new models are reduced by up to 50% in selected key projects. Agile development processes also allow rapid adjustments to evolving customer requirements, strengthening #Volkswagen’s competitiveness in China’s Intelligent Connected Vehicle era.     The vehicle interior is changing – from a functional means of transport to a multi-sensory #experience space. AUDI AG's new experience worlds are one example of this transformation: Deeply integrated into the vehicle, the experience worlds control various functions in the interior. 💬 "The whole vehicle works like an orchestra for us – and we are the conductor: from the ambient lighting, the main and passenger displays, the massage seats to the sound system and the sun roof to the air conditioning and the driving mode," says Oliver Otto, Project & Product Manager at #CARIAD. This enables various scenarios, which take between ten and 20 minutes and create an invigorating or relaxing atmosphere in the vehicle. The experience worlds are developed on Android Automotive OS (#AAOS), which enables scaling across different vehicle segments and equipment.     Managing one of the largest Internets of Vehicles: What does it take to keep tens of millions of vehicles connected across the globe? At #CARIAD, we operate one of the largest automotive IoT networks – powering more than 45 million connected vehicles for the brands of the Volkswagen Group. Behind the scenes, this #ecosystem enables everyday features like remote diagnostics, route planning, and emergency services. But as cars move through areas with patchy coverage, handle vast amounts of sensor data, and require near real-time communication without draining energy, managing this kind of #connectivity can be challenging. That’s where MQTT comes in – a standard for #IoT messaging. Because traditional implementations don’t always meet the unique demands of #automotive connectivity at this scale, our teams have developed an in-house MQTT broker tailored to #VWGroup requirements.
