Canadian Blood Services is proud to support the upcoming world premiere of The Perfect Match, a powerful new documentary that highlights the urgent need for greater diversity in Canada's Stem Cell Registry. The film follows Jacob Marfo, whose young son Ezra is diagnosed with a rare cancer. His family launches the Swab 4 Ezra campaign to encourage more people — especially Black Canadians — to join the Stem Cell Registry. The film also shares the stories of Ufuoma Muwhen and Revée Agyepong Brown, sickle cell disease survivors who received lifesaving stem cell transplants. The film premieres April 11th in Edmonton. Get tickets: https://lnkd.in/e-hfU-eH You can learn more about stem cell donation and join the registry at blood.ca/stemcells.

Together, we are Canada’s Lifeline
About us
We are Canada’s biological lifeline. We are the connection between the sincere generosity of donors and the heartfelt appreciation of recipients, between the profound discoveries of science and the joyful restoration of health. As such, we are nationally responsible for a secure system of life essentials for transfusion or transplantation that’s reliable, accessible and sustainable. That’s why our organization must be efficient, our performance disciplined. We must work as one with our colleagues and partners at all levels. We must be prudent yet smart, rigorous yet agile, capable yet concerned. And we must be innovative, reinventing today so we can find better answers for tomorrow. In a very real way, what we do affects the well-being of all Canadians and every day we must earn their trust. We make a difference and in that, we take great pride Canadian Blood Services strives to create informative and engaging communities on social media. We ask that users heed our Community Guidelines

The Queen of Canada organization showed up and showed out in Calgary! 💃 These pageant queens brought their glam and celebration of trans visibility to the Calgary donor centre, where they donated blood together and raised $1,800 for Canadian Blood Services. It was a day of good vibes, community spirit, and the joy of making a difference, together. It’s giving generosity 💅

Big wins, full hearts ❤️ Last Fall, we held the Fall Get Together Friendsgiving competition, where participating post-secondary schools across Canada battled hard for the highest Donor Point Average — the percentage of members of their team who booked and attended a donation appointment during the contest period. Congrats to our champs from UBC Okanagan and the University of Alberta for topping the charts and winning the whole thing! 💪 Between laughs and a celebratory feast (thank you, Uber Eats Canada!), these legends took home a limited-edition Peace Collective donor hoodie and the unmatched feeling of doing good as a squad. Proof that when we come together to donate, we can do great things 🏆

We LOVE seeing big groups come in to donate, because there’s nothing quite like the feeling of giving together 💕 Huge shoutout to our friends at Seva Food Bank, Exploits Valley High, Popat’s Purpose, Trent University, University of Moncton and the University of the Fraser Valley, for their successful donation events! Their volunteers, including many first-time donors, rolled up their sleeves and made it count, with several even joining the Stem Cell Registry 🌟 Thanks for showing what happens when we show up together! 🙏❤️

Behind every organ donation is a story that deserves to be honoured. In 2018, the unthinkable happened when a bus crashed with the Humbolt Bronco hockey team on board, killing 16 people. After the tragedy, Logan Boulet’s organs saved six lives — and inspired 150,000 people across Canada to register their intent to donate. That ripple became known as the Logan Boulet Effect. Now, we shine a light on those who continue that impact. Nominations for the 2026 Logan Boulet Award are now open. This award recognizes organ and tissue donors posthumously and their families, whose courage, advocacy and generosity inspire others across the country. Do you know a donor, family or community champion who is continuing Logan’s legacy? Nominate them today by visiting https://bit.ly/4un8OlN.

We’re proud to collaborate with community partners like the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO), the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Canada (Atlantic), and NotJustYou to raise awareness about sickle cell disease and the lifesaving impact of African, Caribbean and Black donors across Canada. Many Black patients with sickle cell disease rely on specially matched blood that is most often found in donors of similar ancestry; yet only 1% of our donor base is Black, in part due to some historical and ongoing barriers to donation. Together, through ongoing work including special community-led donation events in Halifax, Edmonton and Toronto, we’re working with our partners to remove barriers, increase donor diversity and advance health equity. Learn more about how Black donors can make an impact, particularly for patients with sickle cell disease at https://bit.ly/3MX5dKD.
