You can’t attach the U.S. Air Force and Navy to fiber optic cables. Those who track the modern battlefield understand the growing threat of RF spectrum interference. Right now one of the only reliable ways to navigate today’s electromagnetic fog of war is by attaching drones to 10-kilometer-long fiber-optic tethers. That’s just not practical in near peer conflict. Things clearly need to change. - On October 7th, much of Israel’s near-border technology went down in seconds. No country can afford this vulnerability. - More of our troops and systems rely on remote operation and autonomous systems. - Current hardware-based systems are too expensive and inflexible. - Constant visibility into connectivity risks = more operational resilience Ongoing radio frequency spectrum intelligence is the lifeline of modern warfare - communications, navigation, and targeting. We’ve seen firsthand the cost of not having the right tools on the battlefield. It’s why over the past few years, we’ve operated alongside allies of the free world to build the most important infrastructure of our time: the world’s leading RF spectrum intelligence and resilience platform. Today we’re announcing our oversubscribed $13.5M Seed round, led by Costanoa Ventures to build faster. Introducing our newest investment: Tenna Systems The invisible battlefield is already here. Tenna is making sure the right people can see it. During our investment process, Tenna’s CEO & Co-Founder, Avner Bendheim, had to reschedule our final meeting because he was operationally deployed in an elite unit somewhere in the Middle East. That told us a lot. Electronic warfare is no longer episodic or confined to active conflict. The RF spectrum is now a daily battlefield across air, land, sea, and space. Spoofing, jamming, and interference are constant grey-zone tactics shaping outcomes every minute of every day. As autonomy, drones, IoT, and critical infrastructure become more spectrum-dependent, understanding when and where systems may be compromised becomes mission-critical. Tenna is building software-defined, hardware-agnostic electromagnetic spectrum awareness — synthesizing data across sensors and domains to deliver a unified, vendor-neutral view of the environment. Already battle-tested. Designed to scale. Built for the realities of modern conflict and public safety. Proud to lead Tenna’s Seed round and to build on our national security work at Costanoa alongside Avner, Gabriel, Ronen, and the Tenna Systems team. All systems go! 🔗 Read the Forbes feature by David Hambling and more on why we invested as told by Greg Sands (both links in the comments) #nationalsecurity #defensetech #startups #venturecapital

The invisible battlefield is here. Tenna is making sure the right people can see it. During our investment process, Avner Bendheim, Founder/CEO of Tenna Systems, had to reschedule our final meeting. He was operationally deployed in an elite IDF unit somewhere in the Middle East. That pretty much told us what we needed to know. We’re excited to lead the Seed round in Tenna Systems, a company building software-defined electromagnetic spectrum awareness — already battle-tested in some of the most contested environments on earth. Electronic warfare is a constant. The RF spectrum is now a daily battlefield — across air, land, sea, and space. Spoofing, jamming, interference — this is happening in grey zones every minute of every day. Autonomy, drones, IoT, and critical infrastructure are increasingly spectrum-dependent, meaning one has to know when and where they might be compromised. Tenna is building the sensor-independent, vendor neutral integration layer to make sense of it all. Proud to build on our national security work at Costanoa Ventures, working with Avner and his co-founders Ronen Shatz and Gabriel Bendheim. Mission-driven founders with earned insight. Real operational credibility. Early traction with key defense customers. A clear path to being foundational infrastructure, solving a critical problem in national security and public safety. Let's make it happen! (Link in the comments)

Honored to win Confluent’s inaugural award for Data Streaming Startup of the Year!
Confluent for Startups is excited to launch a new tradition: the Data Streaming Startup of the Year Award, recognizing early-stage companies that are building category-defining products on real-time data. Our inaugural winner in the Americas region is San Francisco–based Focal Systems. Focal is transforming brick-and-mortar retail with AI-powered shelf cameras that detect out-of-stocks, pricing errors, and inventory gaps in real time — helping stores keep products on shelves and customers happy. Behind the scenes, Confluent’s data streaming platform powers the continuous flow of data that makes those instant insights possible. In this short video, CEO Kevin Johnson explains how streaming data enables Focal to move from legacy system batch reporting to real-time action — and why Confluent has become core to their architecture and infrastructure efficiency as they scale across retailers and across continents. Congrats to the entire Focal Systems team on an incredible year! 🚀 More to come as we continue spotlighting Focal Systems across Confluent’s media platforms in 2026 — from our Life is But a Stream podcast with host Joseph Morais to our AI Day in Seattle on March 17, where Focal’s Head of Product, Tobias Behre, will share their story live. #ConfluentForStartups #DataStreaming #Startups #RetailTech #RealTimeData #AI

Recap: Tech Weekend January 2026 — VC Panel: Vertical AI — Where the Biggest Opportunities Are in 2026 While the world is distracted by general LLMs, the smart money is moving into the verticals. We hosted a deep dive into Vertical AI to answer a single question: How do you build a defensible moat when the underlying models are a commodity? To answer this, we brought together investors who specialize in complex, high-stakes industries: 🎤 Nicole Seah — Early Stage Investor, Costanoa Ventures: Nicole leads Seed and Series A rounds in AI Applications. She specializes in backing founders who are transforming specific verticals, with a portfolio that includes Marble Health, Crescendo Health, and Kettle Insurance. With a background in Behavioral Economics from Wharton, she understands the nuance of product adoption in complex markets. 🎤 Gaurav Bhogale — Principal, Mantis Venture Capital: Gaurav leads AI and Infrastructure investing at Mantis VC, the early-stage fund co-founded by The Chainsmokers. Before VC, he spent eight years at Google scaling massive products like Maps and YouTube. As a licensed pilot and former launcher of PlayStation in India, Gaurav brings a unique mix of consumer, infrastructure, and operational scale to the table. The Moderator: Gargi Kand (Co-Founder & CPO, Vently) — Building a vertical platform herself, Gargi kept the conversation grounded in the reality of product adoption and replacing legacy stacks. Key Takeaways from the room: ✅ Context is the Moat: General models are powerful, but they lack nuance. The panel agreed that the winners in 2026 won't be the ones with the best models, but the ones with the best proprietary data and workflow integration. ✅ High Stakes = High Trust: In sectors like healthcare and aerospace, you can't just "move fast and break things." Nicole highlighted that winning in regulated industries requires building trust-based architecture where accuracy is guaranteed, not just probable. ✅ ROI over Hype: The "experimental" phase of AI is over. Investors are no longer funding cool demos. They are looking for Vertical AI companies that show immediate, quantifiable ROI for their customers—replacing expensive human workflows or unlocking new revenue streams from Day 1. A huge thank you to Nicole, Gaurav, and Gargi for mapping out where the biggest opportunities lie in 2026. Tech Weekend Returns: March 6–7, 2026 Registration is now open for founders and investors.
