Rose boards the RMS Titanic with her mother and fiance, Cal, unhappy at her loveless future. While contemplating jumping off board later, she’s interrupted by charming artist Jack Dawson. The two fall in love, much to Cal’s displeasure, who frames Jack for theft to try and separate the couple. But when the ship hits an iceberg, panic and terror ensues, and it becomes a race to stay alive and away from the freezing waters.
