- Introduction by Walter Scott; afterword ("Postfacier") by Pierre-François Guyot Desfontaines. Desfontaines died in 1745, so it's unclear in what context he wrote this afterword.
- New translation ("traduction nouvelle"), but translator apparently uncredited (9 independent sources failed to mention a translator).
- Published in 2 volumes, although later editions combine those into one.
- Most sources say "Illustrated by J.J. Grandville", some say woodcuts by various others "after Grandville". See the WorldCat records for details. The first record says "Illustrated with 450 wood engravings by L.H. Brévière, A.A. Piaud, M.U. Sears, P. Verdeil and others, after Grandville."
- There is an error in the pagination of the introductory pages in the first volume: Pages L to LIX (50 to 59) are listed as LX to LXIX (60 to 69).
