THE KING OF THE DESERT
The King of The Desert is the story of a young Mexican-American boy living in San Antonio, Texas. Facing family dysfunction, alcoholism, drug addiction, violence, racism, and isolation, he escapes with optimism, imagination, and with the loyal support of his mentally challenged, neighborhood friend, Conrao, who gives the boy a glimpse into his spiritual portal of just how meaningful his life can really be. With hard obstacles in his way, he eventually is catapulted to being accepted to The Juilliard School in New York City. After graduating, he begins a career in theater, film, and television, only to eventually repeat the same destructive pattern, and behavior that haunted him, and his family, as a child. He desperately searches again for truth and purpose, not knowing what, where, when, who, and if, he will ever find it... Set in 1967, to present day. Staged play directed by: Sal Romeo. Initial production directed by: Valentino Ferreira. Stage Manager: Maurie Gonzales. Set Design: Danuta Tomzynski. Set build by: Michael Brainard. Greenway Court Theater (Los Angeles) Artistic Directors: Piersen Blaitz, and Whitney Weston. Video Production Director: Jonathan Lawrence. Cast: RENÉ RIVERA. Running time, 102 minutes. No intermission. Property of: CoActive Content.
