O Filho do Homem innovates by telling a story of more than two thousand years, using real locations in Rio de Janeiro of the 21st century as a background. This is the first film produced by Fundação Cesgranrio and the first brazilian production that portrays the most famous story of all times. SYNOPSIS Mary receives a visit from the Angel Gabriel who announces that she will give birth to a son who will be called Jesus. Being promised in marriage to Joseph, she looks for the bridegroom and informs that she is pregnant by the Holy Spirit of God. Joseph is reluctant to accept the fact, but, supported by faith, he marries and goes with Mary to Bethlehem to participate in the census ordered by King Herod. During the journey, Jesus is born in a humble stable, thus fulfilling the prophecy. After 33 years of preaching, Jesus begins to disturb the lords of the law and scribes who represent religious authority, in Judea dominated by the Roman empire. It is these representatives of the dominant elite of the time that will conspire against Jesus until they take him before Pontius Pilate. Condemned to death on the cross, Jesus is tortured and killed, but what seemed to be the end of a human trajectory, becomes the most famous story in the world, starting with his resurrection, which perpetuates his message until today.
