So very late to the party (this movie!) but I loved it. Small Gods feels like a surreal journey through a country I (as someone born and brought up in Belgium) can barely recognize with people I might('ve) known, one day. The cinematography manages to make Belgium both unrecognizably dreary and unrecognizably beautiful, in some way. Now the story is... strange, very slow burn, slow burn as in I didn't understand anything for the first twenty minutes of the movie and considered turning it off. Bits and pieces of the plot are revealed at a snail's pace almost, but finishing is most definitely worth it. Would recommend.
Not perfect by any means, but I enjoyed it. The camerawork had its moments, the acting was good. It's a movie that really gets you on the edge of your seat and makes you empathize with and root for (some of) the characters. I will say that the ending was a bit of a bummer - as someone else has said, left an open wound. Still, I would recommend this one.
Prey is a movie that provides you with a great many questions from its very beginning to its final moments. The premise had potential, giving credit where it's due, but the execution was lacklustre. None of the characters I felt for, or identified with, and the antagonist's motivation seemed, to me, illogical.
I'm sorry, I really didn't like this one.
