A different style of story with a few more characters from the DC Universe in but as the film starts halfway through the plot, there isn't much of an explanation as to who these characters are or why they're there. As such, it feels like 'just another day in Metropolis' rather than an epic Superman adventure. The story boils down to the same old themes and whilst it effectively balances the emotional human side with the light hearted humor, the plot didn't really engage me. It was entertaining enough with plenty of action and solid special effects, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the other iterations of Superman I've seen.
Enjoyable and entertaining with lots of good action and a newish roster of fun characters. It's not as colorful or lighthearted as other superhero films with a darker and more mature storyline which focuses on the people just as much as the heroes. The underdogs do end up being the punchlines to a lot of the jokes but like the unwilling villain, it complements the main themes of the story. The relatively grey and bland settings and enemies are a bit dull but add some realism to the fray and the main fight with the villain ended a bit anticlimactically, but it's a good and solid film which never gets bogged down by its ideas.
A traditional Disney animated adventure which strays a bit too far from what made the original special. It was a lot more magical than spiritual with over the top montage sequences and death defying stunts but the songs were good and the animation was great. The story was as expected with a good if overtly happy ending but the villain lacked personality and the mid-act villain, whilst entertaining, didn't get any closure and felt a bit pointless. It was enjoyable and entertaining throughout with plenty of light hearted humor from the varied cast, even if it was a bit too childish at times.
