This episode hurts every time I visit on a rewatch. This time was no different. If S3E12 ('Regulus Corneus', the latest episode released by the time I write this review) marks a high point deserving after the wait through hell, this episode is hell in itself.
This episode marks the breaking point in the first Season and gives contention in the later seasons as well.
The high praise of this episode is the psyche that surrounds all sorts of emotions heightened to a level above all others. Happiness, hope, pain, and madness - the right recipe for an emotional roller-coaster.
Pathos concludes the great execution of this episode at an epic scale. And a lot of despair. I often regard the great, and excellent episodes to move people beyond their expectations, much more than mere entertainment. And this episode has achieved that.
SImply madness!

Three seasons of hell finally paid off! All major and other pertinent characters have a say in this episode, and I am not talking about Subaru or Emilia alone.
This Episode was a decisive one, not only for Season 3 but for the previous two as well. Everything's coming full circle, especially for Emilia and Subaru. Seeds of characters sown from the previous seasons, including Petelgeuse/Betelgeuse, Fortuna, Rem, and Crusch amongst others, have received their fair shares of redemptions, and with a proper deal. But enough said on the plot.
Great episode, great animations, good script, great action sequences (notable mention - Emilia), and a great resolution to a long build-up.
Four more episodes for Season 3. Expecting great outputs ahead, considering the consistency of the season.

What a mess! Despite the advancements in tech. And the more realistic Production Design display of Rome since the original movie, the rest of the movie goes down the gutter.
Worst of all, the writers lost their sense to write what seemed to be a decent story. Now, there are a handful of sequels within movie series that prove equal, or maybe surpass something as great as Gladiator (2000), but the least I had expected of this sequel was the decency to justify its existence.
Awful writing. Awful structure, especially at the end. Disapproving of the good glories from the past (movie), and I hope to erase this diabolical episode from my memory.
Advancements in technology and film equipment don't declare quality where there was sheer incompetence riding on the production of this movie.
I hope they stop at this here and don't make a third installment with this mentality. Enough said.
