I watched this movie on TV. As usual, I checked IMDb to give me an idea of how this movie was liked by the movie base users. Only 3.9/10. OK, I won't watch THIS movie. On second thought I was intrigued by the cast. Some of my favorite stars. In that case how bad could it be. So I watched it, and may I say ,I really enjoyed it. I am always surprised by how seriously some people take a fantasy action film. After all, it is only fantasy, so one can get away with a multitude of sins. OK, so some of the effects could have been better, but they were, on the whole very exciting. The creatures were quite well done and sometimes, very scary. It's no secret how it will end, so I'm not giving anything away by revealing a little of the plot. The plot, based on Ray Bradburys short story may not be known by all, so why not use the basic premise. The tiniest change millions of years ago may change evolution. Guessing the ending I realized that even the "bad guys" would get a second chance. So do as I did, give this film a chance and if you are a sci-fi fan, you may be pleasantly surprised. I know I was.

Dødes tjern,de is considered to be a Norwegian classic. It tells the story of a group of young people staying in an isolated cabin situated in a forest. I have seen this film more than once as it is a regular on Norwegian TV. Its fun in a way to watch Norwegian movies. Not too may are made and the ones that are, are usually very bad. This one is an exception. The story in itself is quite good, but as usual, to anyone not Norwegian it is an amateur attempt at film making. Norwegians do not have film actors, only theater actors, something that is obvious when watching the film. The actors overact, the camera lingers much too long on certain shots and the dialog is spoken in a way no Norwegian would speak. In spite of this criticism one cannot help but be intrigued by its ghostly story. Each time I have watched it I am in turn embarrassed that we cannot make a better film from a good manuscript, and the enjoyment I get from laughing at the exaggerated character acting. Perhaps my criticisms will not be so obvious to a non Norwegian as they'll be to busy reading the subtitles to notice the aforementioned faults. I make no excuses for it being made in 1958. Casablanca was made long before and it is as watchable today as it was when it was made.I'd love to see this film remade today by an American studio. It could be a box office success.

In common with a fellow reviewer I saw this movie as a teenager.I remember it vividly, probably THE FILM which made the deepest impression on my young mind. I would really love for my grown children to see it.Yes I have moved on to appreciate much more sophisticated movies,in fact have little time for the majority of films made today. GOLDEN GIRL is-was a really good feel movie that has stayed with me for fifty years. I may add that few persons have seen anything like the number of films I have devoured in my lifetime.To films every day, three-hundred and sixty days a year. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to order a DVD of this movie or if anyone would part with their copy? Lets form a Golden Girl fan club? Lyn Kristensen Oslo Norway
