I have whiplash from shaking my head at all the impossibilities this movie serves up. So many things are so unbelievable it completely sabotages the movie.
The super-accelerated pace at which the Alien transforms in this feels like it was written to satisfy TikTokers short attention spans. But then add in the implausibility of everything else space-related and it was a hurricane of confusion for my brain that made me want to shut it off.
Plus I found the use of a certain deceased actor's likeness off-putting for moral and ethical reasons but also that it was uncanny and unnecessary considering it played no role other than to be a member berry.
There were a few other callbacks that were just as useless and some things that seemed like they were attempts to expand the lore but felt out of place given the circumstances.
Bottomline, I'd skip this addition to the franchise and wait til the next one to see if they can right the ship.

In 2023, four years after this movie was made, the city of White Plains NY paid a $5,000,000 settlement to Mr. Chamberlain's family. It took 12 years after his murder, but finally there was some accountability for these cop's actions.
This film shines a light on so many of the problems that persist with America's police officers, especially the need for body cams which is the only reason these cops weren't indicted for Mr. Chamberlain's murder because they weren't wearing any.
PEACE OFFICERS are what America needs not commandos overstepping their authority like we see here. Protect and serve is a forgotten motto. Even when that was the entire assignment to begin with.
It was a WELFARE CHECK. To check if Mr. Chamberlain was okay. That assignment was completed in the first 5 minutes of the cop's arrival at his door. He said he was fine. That should have been it. They should have left.
This was a tragedy that didn't need to happen. And writer/director Midell shows us every gut-wrenching second of it. This is a powerful film, wonderfully acted and claustrophobically shot to put us right there in the inescapable situation. One that unfortunately happens all too often in America.

I've avoiding watching this movie for 23 years because it looked unfunny. Finally I decided to give it a chance. I made it halfway through before shutting it off. There was not one funny thing. Not even a chuckle or a snicker. I think they were relying on the costumes to be the funny stuff??? But the costumes weren't even that outrageous. And all the cameos were weak. Even Ben's father Jerry Stiller couldn't get a laugh out of me and he was basically playing his Frank Costanza role which I usually love, but here it was nowhere near as good. And Will Ferrell screaming is tiresome. Nice to see Vince Vaughn except he had no lines. Made me want to watch Dodgeball which is like Citizen Kane compared to Zoolander.
