I think if I watched this movie around 2005-2015 I would have called the police thinking it was a real event lol Anyway, it was a fun experience. I want to give credit to the sound editing team. They used bass very cleverly and it worked really well in creating a creepy atmosphere especially at the end of the movie. I really liked the scene in the forest. But if we look a little closer, Noroi still has some weaknesses. Firstly, the visual experience is not good, there are no artistic or metaphorical shots, no beautiful colors or emotional frames. It's just a handheld camera angle. With a pretty good story like this one, but the first half of the movie is a series of unattractive and quite ridiculous events. Many details are overdone and unnecessary, accidentally revealing the director's intervention instead of being found footage. The last scene is also extended beyond necessity and reduces the story's persuasiveness. The characters are also not good enough to go along with the story. But I will miss this movie and its creepy scenes. Imagine a Found Footage movie and Japan created a mystery story in 2005? Respect to Japanese cinema.
First of all, I want to give a huge shout out to the writer-creator of this show, Lauren LeFranc. She created a story that was pretty good on paper. But when the show was finished, it was clear that it wasn't as good as we thought it would be. Of course, I was impressed by the performances of actors like Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Deirdre O'Connell, and even Ryder Allen. They gave compelling performances. However, we have to admit, the show focused on Oz too well, while the world around him wasn't half as good. The supporting characters were pretty bland and lacked personality. Without Oz, the characters seemed like nothing worth waiting for. There were episodes that gave me a sense of suspense and excitement, but there were also episodes that left me disappointed. Everything was unconvincing and the story especially lacked foreshadowing. Anyway, I quite liked Sofia's outfits in the show, despite her being one of the characters with unfortunate development, she could have been more interesting and had more depth and instability. The music was also moderately good. The thing is, Oz had a pretty good run in this mini-show, and I'm afraid I'll be wishing for a season 2 of this show instead of waiting for Oz in The Batman II_ where he'll most likely have a bland cameo guest appearance and end up in a failed plan that ends in Arkham or an uninteresting death.
I'm not talking about Cristin Milioti's performance, she did a great job and made an impression, but Sofia is not an interesting character. They left the viewer confused about her character from the beginning to reveal everything in this episode. I didn't like that. Every supporting character in this show is nothing special, this episode made it even more obvious. I didn't find any scenes that were memorable. The final scene? Too predictable and unconvincing. Carmine the boss was also uninteresting. The torture scene in Arkham was also poorly done and disturbing. The characters were also boring. The speeches were long and lacked shock or explosive moments. Too many details were uninteresting and not convincing enough.
