First of all, I want to give a huge shout out to the writer-creator of this show, Lauren LeFranc. She created a story that was pretty good on paper. But when the show was finished, it was clear that it wasn't as good as we thought it would be. Of course, I was impressed by the performances of actors like Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Deirdre O'Connell, and even Ryder Allen. They gave compelling performances. However, we have to admit, the show focused on Oz too well, while the world around him wasn't half as good. The supporting characters were pretty bland and lacked personality. Without Oz, the characters seemed like nothing worth waiting for. There were episodes that gave me a sense of suspense and excitement, but there were also episodes that left me disappointed. Everything was unconvincing and the story especially lacked foreshadowing. Anyway, I quite liked Sofia's outfits in the show, despite her being one of the characters with unfortunate development, she could have been more interesting and had more depth and instability. The music was also moderately good. The thing is, Oz had a pretty good run in this mini-show, and I'm afraid I'll be wishing for a season 2 of this show instead of waiting for Oz in The Batman II_ where he'll most likely have a bland cameo guest appearance and end up in a failed plan that ends in Arkham or an uninteresting death.
I'm not talking about Cristin Milioti's performance, she did a great job and made an impression, but Sofia is not an interesting character. They left the viewer confused about her character from the beginning to reveal everything in this episode. I didn't like that. Every supporting character in this show is nothing special, this episode made it even more obvious. I didn't find any scenes that were memorable. The final scene? Too predictable and unconvincing. Carmine the boss was also uninteresting. The torture scene in Arkham was also poorly done and disturbing. The characters were also boring. The speeches were long and lacked shock or explosive moments. Too many details were uninteresting and not convincing enough.
I am not surprised that so many people love Batman movies, every kid wants to go to the cinema to see Batman. With a huge budget, this movie makes many people excited. At least they succeeded with the action scenes, the deep and slow scenes and the gentle music at the end of the movie. The cinematography is also of good standard. If you want to watch Batman for entertainment, that is enough. But we have seen Nolan's Batman movies, for me they are still the best experiences. Why? Because we get to see the characters change their emotions and interact with each other in deep and meaningful conversations. This Batman movie doesn't have that. Everything is arranged like you're playing a Batman game on Playstation or some long-running animated series. There are details that are too redundant, and there are details that should have been there. At nearly 3 hours long, this movie shouldn't have lacked so many character development scenes. The Riddler is the main villain in the movie but only gets a little bit of exposure at the end of the movie. This whole movie feels like it's been dragged out like a boring piece of chewing gum. I'm not saying Batman's crime-solving process is bad. Everything about the investigation and crime-solving here is worth watching and interesting. But the characters are absolutely abandoned. A Batman who is nothing special and always seems weak, so he had to rely on a suit of armor that could block all bullets at all ranges, a suit of armor that was too strong and without any explanation lol. Other characters appear to complete the mission and then disappear to make room for other characters. I would want a Batman movie with more emotional weight and a more compelling message and story if it were a part 2, not constant rain and a dark tone that makes it hard to see. The "dark" needs to be about the depth of the story, not the color of the movie.
