  • lackluster doesn't begin to describe what is wrong with this film

While I gave this a rating of 1, that does not even begin to describe how simply awful this film is. I was looking for a chance to rate it zero ( 0 ) or negative.

This is absolutely the WORST film ever made. Bar none. I have seen some real stinkers, and this doesn't even come close to how good stinkers those were.

It is hard to list all the things wrong with this film. The setting is all wrong, and insulting to the Bard. The language is a poor mixture of American modern day and olde English. The acting is totally flat and boring, with actors and actresses miscast. The sound quality is very poor.

Normally, I would enjoy Whedon's work. But not this one which so totally misses the mark. For me, I require that a film must be entertaining. This is totally not.

  • Loverboy misses the mark

One writer wrote that Sedgwick and Bacon "show both heart and tenacity, and as a result this misguided person rated the film a 10. But a 10 means SUPERB, Outstanding, out of this world, a one in a million, no, in 10 million. But this film isn't any good at all, it barely rates a 2. It fails to entertain, it fails to make sense, it fails to even interest us. Less than 60% of the viewers could even stand the movie or the review of it. A score of 10 is worse than ridiculous.

There were several writers who liked the movie, in varying degrees. I didn't. It was missing on a number of points. The writing was terrible, the story didn't speak to me. What person could possibly treat their son, their own flesh and blood that way? I suppose that I should treat the woman Emily as th pitiful character she plays. But the huge disconnect is too great. I cannot make the jump because NO human could possibly be as bad off as Sedgwick. The boy child has 100 times more maturity than the Sedgwick character. How could anyone believe any part of this story.

In summary, the movie left me worse than flat, worse than before I began watching it, sorry that I wasted my time on this. THAT is why this movie is NOT a 10. I was generous in giving it a rating 2, but I felt that as 1 would not be fair, because 1 needs to be reserved for a really horrendous movie. This was just bad, not horrendous.

  • Pitiful

It is incredible that this film, Goodbye Baby, has received a rating of (at this writing) a 7.9. I have no doubt that this is the result of ONLY 84 votes (probably with a number of duplicates from the performers and their friends).

This film is SO BAD that film goers cannot possible rate this as anything other than below average.

To start with, there is practically NO story. It is more like a stream of consciousness. For those who tune in expecting a story, you will be disappointed. And if you were so naive as to expect to be entertained, well, you are definitely in the wrong place. There is NO entertainment in Goodbye Baby. It starts out terribly boring, and then descends to worse. In a few sports it was possible to climb out of the morass, but the film makers choose to NOT go the positive route, but again descent further into a muddling swamp.

A rating of 1 is the lowest that IMDb allows. There are some that deserve a rating of Zero, or lower, in the negatives. But I would not say that Goodbye Baby is one of those. It truly has earned and deserves its rating of 1. I would not give it lower than a 1.

In summary, do not bother with Goodbye Baby. There are tens of thousands of new films every year which are better and deserve your time and attention.
