It was well worth the watch. At first the storyline is a bit unclear. But gradually it improves. But far more important is the cinematography. It is like watching baroque paintings. The landscapes and sceneries are stunning. The red and orange for the bandits, the bright blue for the army, the grey for the village. It is a visual spectacle. There is also the music. It plays an important role in this series. So do not bother too much about a storyline, just watch it as a series of old paintings put together. Enjoy the visuals and this series will not let you down. You should watch it on a widescreen.
I didn't know what to expect when I watched this movie. Half animation, half real. But it gripped me from the start. What a beautiful movie. The struggle of a boy with his mother's illness. The yew tree was a masterpiece, with that dark voice. I watched it again an read the book. The book is slightly different but worth reading as well.
What a dreadful movie. Unlike his father, Washington Jr can't act. All you see is an actor stumbling through various terrains looking tormented. There is no story whatsoever. No good plot. My wife and I didn't watch it till the end. Later I finished the last remaining 15min, but that was a waste of time as well.
