The writing for this movie was very simplistic. It was deemed essentially a hatchet job by the rest of his brothers and sisters as revenge for Daddy Mike leaving his second wife for a little gold digger who was an extra on Little House of the prairie who was 20 years younger than he was. It is a sad movie but the story of pure love between the boy and his dog will bring tears to your eyes I'm crying right now as I type this. If you've ever had a dog and they passed away it will tug at your heart. Brandon De Wilde was a child actor with great depth. Of all people this film is produced by John Wayne. I don't know if the film is a success or not at the box office but I think anybody who has seen it could recommend.
