  • Coulda been better

This is a a great story about an important point, but the ending doesn't work at all. It's valuable to discuss the feeding of stereotypes and how much damage they do. The story covers this well, but the movie falls apart in the final scenes, failing to demonstrate an appropriate resolution, preferably action-based, that would make the film worth recommending. All said, the plot is a healthy presentation of a conventional American black family experience, and serves by itself to counter the stereotypes, but sadly most viewers need direct guidance so as not to miss the point. We need black writers, period. We don't need negative stereotypes.

  • Total Crap

I rarely give 1 star, but this film was junk. A waste of time. The plot is simplistic and utterly idiotic. Yes, thrillers always lack logic by the characters, but this was beyond the pale. The plot was shockingly thin and the foodie culture was remarkably undeveloped. Elements were also gross and sad. While the acting was fair, there was little character development and the interaction between characters was almost completely absent, leaving out countless opportunities for a richer plot. How the professional reviewers managed to scrape together the words to support this film is hard to understand. Shame on them.

  • Unbelievably bad

Isaac is credibile, Defoe adds nothing, and the rest of the acting plus the story is crap and a waste of time. Tagged as a thriller, but it's mostly a boring ride through a sad, meaningless character study.
