Seems like forever since season 1. Maybe because it was or maybe because season 1 was underwhelming as well.
No character even seems that intimidating. Even negan is a pale shadow of what he was in the season he first was shown. Maybe because the script is all about weak explaining how tough everyone is rather than showing. The wc new thenselves are basic rather than purposeful. The most annoying and I hope they are killed off forst is this confederate soldier group it's like paint by numbers in making a new evil gang. The same kind of gang was made in the show Evolution (2015) did this so much more effectively and with a much smaller budget.
The old leaders make no sense. No idea why negan doesn't just kill them both. Much if the plot pulls from disjointed collections of older seasons rather than build a new plot in their own. I hich to it this is more if the same thinner plot each new episode.
Amc is clinging to this show like Fox did with X-Files. Whwre they pool all funds wildly into one show hoping to keep a fire going but forgetting how they made magic to begin with. So they just keep adding resources aimlessly and keep getting it wrong.

Don't get me wrong. I still love the show. Compared to what's out in tv right now, this is still grade A tv. But clearly a lot less than season 1. Especially for a season with only 7 episodes. The pace was as if it was 24 episodes.
There was so many tangents jn plot, story, script and needless scenes for a 7 episode season. They did pretty well at gritty scenes but lost sight if the big picture at having impactful moments. The. If part of this season that failed where season 1 shined is getting us to have enough background in the characters to care about if they make it or not.
Now we have to wait 2 more years for another couple episodes. This show endangers thme "stranger things" curse if taking so long between seasons that I forget to care anymore.
