This felt more like a return to the first or second season formula. David and Maddie investigating a weird case involving a disfigured man, plenty of sketchy characters and red herrings, and a ton of twists and turns leading to an off-the-wall episode conclusion. Much more light-hearted with plenty of zingers, witty dialog and a pursuit involving throwing scalpels and silicone implants, while at the same time telling a story that managed to explore themes of societies understanding of beauty and perception, albeit maybe in a shallow sort of way. This is more of the return to form that I was hoping for with this season. The inclusion of cartoony music, namely the Three Stooges-style music when some of the slapstick hijinks begin, always makes me laugh.
