In this brutally updated version of Euripides "Medea" we find the anti-heroine a victim of prostitution, pimping and perhaps even human trafficking. Something does get lost along the way of Antonio Zúñiga's adaptation of the ancient Greek pantheon of rebel women. And the drama does become involuntary comical with a handful of men trying to govern a group of wicked women. And it became uneasy in the stalls among the women in the audience. They probably felt cheated of a contemporary battle of the sexes. Anyway, most of the female actors were brilliant. Especially Medea/Maria herself - Ilse Salas. To which we all owe a standing ovation for her dedicated work effort.
Female Trouble Productions out of the Netherlands of Europe has a lot of odd stuff to offer. This one is a remix of things you might have stumbled on. The usual riffraff saying what to expect. But it´s the mix and cuts that does it. To me. Hard to get how a hot chick like Zeena got herself into all this.
Depending of what you expect, this Librianna-thing is a one-of-a-kind. Highly original and campy. Communism or Reds was never a big thing in erotic entertainment. But, one never knows. So refreshing to out nazis, satanist and worshippers of any higher might. Wonder what Pezda Vanutcka's life went.
