Fifty percent of the reviews here are either 1 or 10. The 10's I don't understand as there is nothing outstanding about this show. The 1's seem to be based on the fact that it's not nearly as good as the original and that it shouldn't have been made. While I agree with the second position, I don't think it's fair to rate this a 1 on that basis. If you hadn't seen the original, this could be considered an average or slightly above average show (even if you just compare it to other Korean series). The problem is that the acting could be better. I don't know if it's the actors, or that they're locked into trying to imitate the original cast. The acting seems pretty stiff and it's tough to care about anyone.
In my opinion, it's worth a watch, but it's nothing special.

I actually like the typically bad movies done by Asylum. This one though, was an exception. You expect bad acting, but the acting in this movie was universally awful. This movie wasn't "fun bad" like many Asylum movies. It was just truly bad in all respects
Although I did enjoy the movie, I did so mainly because I loved the series and was happy to revisit with the characters after so many years. But, I have to say that I was disappointed. As for many Deadwood viewers, I loved the Swearengen character. McShane really stole the series. That's why I was disappointed in a movie where he's reduced to a character completely lacking the personality shown throughout the series.
And while I have no complaint with the character, or actress, the amount of time spent on Calamity Jane was completely out of proportion relative to her role during the series.
