If this series was supposed to give the viewer a better understanding of of the motivations of the fighters, it fails. Far too much attention is spent on stories from the front and not much light is shed on the background of the characters, their beliefs/convictions or the social context they came from, not to mention what some of them did when they returned.
The film is a heart-warming and lovely little comedy centered around Disa, mother of two children and a kind, but frustrated and awkward nurse in her 40-ties working night shifts at the local hospital. She´s struggling with her self esteem in general and how to adapt to her new situation, recently divorced, having moved to a new town in the Swedish countryside where she doesn´t know anyone.
The film handles many themes, among others unexpected friendships and developing your self-esteem. It´s a remarkably honest, simple, warm and unsentimental film, free of pretentions and packed with wonderful situational comedy. It should appeal to anyone who enjoys films with lots of situational comedy and a bunch of unusual characters.
