Probably the best Schwarzenegger movie. Potentially a great cult movie for those who like to quote movie lines to their friends at parties. Lots of action, and lots of classic deadpan comedic lines from Schwarzenegger. Movies like True Lies are more glitzy and sophisticated, Twins is very funny, but Commando is the best overall showcase for Arnie. And...I do know my movies. I had seen almost all of Eisenstein by the time I was 10, and Kurosawa by my teenage years. The movie I have watched most often is The Big Lebowski and I love nordic noir.

Seen a lot of Australian drama. Seen a lot of highly sophisticated overseas drama. I am familiar with the Top End and with law enforcement issues up there. I reckon this series captures the feel and the taste - it has the contrasting textures of characters from the mainland and the Straits. It captures the pervading cultural and family cultural differences. It also has the whimsy which so defines much Australian content I have only just seen the series - and I am astonished I hadn't come across it earlier, and grieved that it only went to one season - when it was clearly set up for a second. And what a wonderful and talented cast too.... I dont usually bother to rate things and I dont usually give high ratings. Best thing I have seen in a long while.

I watched this on a plane - there were other good offerings - but either I had seen them - or I wanted to wait so I could watch them with my wife on my return. Having seen it, I have just bought it on DVD - so I can watch it again. BUT I still don't know whether I really liked it or not. I had enjoyed Rome, Game of Thrones - I am pretty focused on historical accuracy. I found some of the characterisations as peculiar and disturbing. But there were some wonderful moments - often involving deep and meaningful contemplation of pebbles by mostly harmless Roman soldiers. Don't know if I would buy season 2. If you have seen the Danish series, "The Bridge" - people like the Danish detective Martin would like Britannia - people like Saga, the Swedish detective would not.
