There are so many films involving alien artifacts or beings landing on earth:
All of them are probably better than this. And all of them were ripped off by it. There's really nothing original in this movie. Every event you've probably seen before - either in a sci-fi flick like The Thing or a horror movie like Poltergeist.
However, those movies were cleverly constructed with unpredictable twists & turns and storylines which eventually offered some explanation for the events in them.
No such luck here. If you are seeking a story with sound and credible causes behind the events being shown, then I suggest you avoid this movie.
However if you like your films generally vacuous with lots of spectacle, gore and flashing lights, then this movie is for you!

I loved the irreverence of "Snatch," "Lock, Stock etc" and others.
But unfortunately this film seems more like an attempt to mimic Quentin Tarentino. However, it doesn't succeed. It doesn't have the humour of Tarentino nor the absurdist edge of his films. Possibly part of the problem might be that, instead of using working class characters, this feels like a love letter to British Public schools. Every character has an "I say chaps!" laconic attitude no matter what the situation. Strangely, although revolving around the fact that most of the cast supposedly went to Eton, the script doesn't seem to understand that schoolboys at that institution probably wouldn't be allowed to have "one eye on the bar..." But I suppose that level of inaccuracy is about right for this film as most of the events are a complete fabrication. The real mission was carried out without a shot being fired.
In short, this movie feels like it was made to entertain US audiences with little knowledge of history and geography.
