Back to the movie, it ain't offering you anything new but I find it's a decent film nonetheless. I was hooked from the beginning and I must admit, the two hours went by quite smoothly. I loved the locations and the mystery quests. All of the characters were fun and vivacious, except Gleeson imo. But, I find it funny that the non-white characters are the protectors of the ancient secrets and the whites are the one causing chaos and nuisance lol.

There were some neat twists here and there and the production setting was quite good, esp the Egypt part made me smile, cause obviously they were paying homage to Indie Jones.

And please for the last time, National Treasure is not a brilliant film. When it first came out, many of us were like "eh?". It's no brainer that no treasure-hunting film could get better than Jones, so perhaps lower your expectations and idk... have fun?

Also, this will even make more people mad, but I find this one way entertaining than Thunderbolts. If you like the latter better then so be it. Everyone is welcome to their taste and preferences ;)

Tbh, the film isn't that bad, but the lead is weak and the twists are not surprising. The killing were gruesome but some felt clunky. But again, I think the lead, Lori Granger, played well by India Fowler, was a weak scream queen. It's all the writing problem, she is literally so blagh and boring to the core - I can't believe no one thought to rewrite her bland narration.

I grew up with Neve Campbell in Scream, so any slasher lead girl will always be compared to her. Biased at it is, I felt the newer slasher films always fumbled upon writing a good lead girl. Especially here, Lori, has no depth nor sass - she is just too passive for my liking. Give me a Scream Queen who can kick ass, man. Also, the twist and turns were kind of predictable - a poor entry to the already solid Fear Street trilogy in my opinion.

Murder in a Small Town piqued my interest due to Kristin Kreuk, and lo and behold, she is paired with another Sutherland lad. I love small-town settings, and a murder mystery makes for a great combination. The first episode started out nicely: there's a murder, and the next-door elderly neighbor seems to be the culprit, but how and why? I liked that they elaborated on the characters and gave them a good backstory. I also liked that the show doesn't feel like the usual flashy, slick murder-mystery theme. But what intrigued me the most is the chemistry of the two leads: two 40-somethings with past experiences and baggage, trying love for the second time. Kreuk's Cassandra is feisty and bubbly, while Sutherland's Karl is this two-shirt type of detective. Together, they turn this small-town mystery into a slow-burn romance that's worth every twist.
