I'm not usually one for homie/quippy type action movies... but it's hard to argue you're going to get something decent when Cena and Elba are in it. And actually, the supporting cast is also well known and it was great to see them in this movie as well. I cannot say this is my favorite action/comedy film, but it was entertaining. Also not really a creative concept... but fun to watch all the same. Putting Cena and Elba together was a great combo for Suicide Squad of course; I can see them doing more in the future together because they play well off each other. Always a surprise (to me anyways) is Quaid. The more I watch him the more I really enjoy his talent. I've found myself seeking out films he's in. For me, I think he is far more talented than his father... but I was never a big Dennis Quaid fan.
Not my favorite Julianne Moore movie. Main casting was good but the 'supporting cast' pretty much blew both Julianne and Sydney out of the water as far as acting chops. I have trouble with significant gaps in a storyline line and I felt this film had those in spades. Sydney can do drama (anyone who's familiar with Euphoria knows this), but she seemed emotionally restrained in this part. Julianne played her role very subdued as well, which for this film may have been intentional- not sure. The ending was frustrating, but I'm not one for open-ended stories. In my opinion, this film is still worth seeing - maybe just lower your expectations some......
This is now one of my favorite movies - absolutely fantastic. If you would have told me 20 years ago that Pamela Anderson would play the lead in one of my favorite movies, I would have laughed you out of the room. I'm completely gobsmacked that she had this kind of talent. Granted, she's played a role that probably reflects the life she's lead in a lot of ways, but she completely blew me away with her raw vulnerability in this role. The fact that neither she nor Jamie Lee won any awards for their portrayals in this film is absolutely criminal! And Dave Bautista continues to completely shock me, as well. I thought Knock at the Cabin or Dune were his best roles - but Showgirl really showed a range of emotions (mostly non-verbal) that was very impressive, as well. And the raw way this movie was filmed added to an already great story. Strong & Lord as supportive characters did their part too; the casting in the film in general was completely spot on. Great film - you should not pass this up because of preconceived notions. You would really be missing out.
